Isuikwuato is the cool upland country of Abia's north-west, on the road to Enugu, made up of the Isuikwuato communities - Mbalano, Uturu, Ovim and their neighbours - and home to Abia State University's main campus at Uturu. Its own tradition places the people in the Isu stock of Igbo groups, a claim of common descent with communities far beyond the state rather than a dated record. It is farming and quarry country: cassava, yam and palm on the slopes, with hills above the university campus and a waterfall on them. The photograph in this gallery is of those hills.
