Igbo counts a four-day week, and its days are market days: Eke, Orie, Afọ, Nkwọ. Across Abia the cycle still names when a town trades, when a ceremony is held and when a family goes to the farm, and two towns a few kilometres apart keep different days, which is how a market system covers a region without a single calendar.
