The Ngwa are an Igbo people of southern Igbo land, and the group Abia's largest city stands in. Their country runs from the Imo River in the west to the Anaang and Ibibio in the east, with the Asa and Ndoki to the south and the Ubakala and Olokoro to the north, and it is made of village groups rather than a kingdom - governed, before the colonial administration, by the Ekpe and Ọkọnkọ societies acting as law enforcers. Chineke heads the pantheon, with Ohanjoku and Amadioha beside him. The Ngwa are farmers of yam, cassava, cocoyam and oil palm, and their dialect is rich in proverb. Six local governments - Aba North and Aba South, Isiala Ngwa North and South, Obi Ngwa and Osisioma Ngwa - sit in Ngwa country.
